HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday, October 31, 2009

At one point or another in my life these pictures have been very scary to me. Yeah, I know the artichoke heart with claws which is not the actual monster from the movie but a fair representation, (Zontar, Thing from Venus), doesn't seem too frightening but as a kid it was EE-PEE-CRAY. Happy Halloween to you all, and don't eat too much candy or you'll get a visit from the "Cavity Creeps.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Thursday, October 22, 2009

In "Mere Christianity," C.S. Lewis describes meeting a humble person. "Do not imagine that if you meet a really humble man he will be what most people call humble nowadays; he will not be a sort of greasy, smarmy person, who is always telling you that, of course, he is a nobody. Probably all you will think about him is that he seemed a cheerful, intelligent chap who took a real interest in what you said to him. If you dislike him it will be because you feel a little envious of anyone who seems to enjoy life so easily. He will not be thinking about humility: he will not be thinking about himself at all."

Today marks the 29th anniversery of the death of John Bonham. The man who brought the power triplet and maniac slam bashing to Rock-N-Roll lovers around the world. He used the longest and thickest drum sticks available, he refered to them as his "Trees". He drank himself to death one night with enough booze to stun 3 rhinos. John Bonham, dead and gone, but his musical contribution livez on. Rock-N-Roll is here to stay.

DANTE'S INFERNO

Monday, September 21, 2009

Today I went to do a sales/assessment @ Nucor steel. I had to determine if our replacement Master Links would fit on their 40 ton hook. It was all smoke & fire & sparks & cinders & danger. It was awesome. It was kinda like the common idea of what hell is like, minus the imps jabbing people with pitch forks and being locked in IKEA with 100 life insurance salesman or spending an hour @ the DMV, but you know, still kinda hellish. I got to meet some of the people that I've been working with for a couple of years now, you know, to put a face on the name and voice. Anyway it was a nice little field trip. If you ever get the chance to visit a steel mill, you should oughta do it, way cool and wicked hot all @ the same time. FIRE,FIRE FIRE yeah huh huh FIRE IS COOL.

The Neumans

Friday, September 18, 2009

Just look @ fresh plum cake that sister Neuman gave us. The plumz came from their back yard and it was still quite hot cuz I got it fresh from the oven. The Neumans are from Germany and are some of the coolest people I've ever met and the DW and I are grateful to know them and call them friendz.

THE MOORE

Thursday, September 17, 2009

The other night I went to the Moore Theatre to see Porcupine Tree. The first half of the show was a bit taxing due to the debut of the bands new song off their new release that lasted 55 minutes? Yes, 55 minutes! And me being clean and sober, it was hard to take. I'm sure that I'll like the song better when I hear the studio version. Anywho, I took these picturez with my phone, in the stairwell leading up to the 2nd balcony. I'm talkin' full on nose bleed section. The artsy touch was kinda cool though.

TREKISMZ

CRITTERZ

Thursday, August 20, 2009

Here they are critters buggin'. An earless goat, it's rumored he lost them in an all in game of Texas Hold 'Em. The black sheep of the family with a barf bucket. Must've sent a ewe to do a rams drinkin'. Pig milk, that's just a rude thought, I'll try never to have that thought again, forgive me. Dolly Llama and an ever so freaky demon goats. 4-H, does that stand for Hellish, Horrid, Hideous, Hud?? Thank God I'm a city boy.

FULL PULL,FULL PULL!!!!

Sunday, August 16, 2009

This week end we went to the Jefferson Co. fair in the Port Townsend area. It was a true "country fair". There were no rides, no midway of any kind, just 4H livestock and critter competitions. The coolest thing I've seen lately was the Draft Horse Team pulls. The horses we saw were the middle weight class. What they do is hook a team of (2) horses to a sled loaded with 500 lb. blox of concrete to see which team can pull them the furtherest, or @ least to a predetermined distance. The teams that give a "FULL PULL" move on to the next round where 500 more lbs are added until a winner is crowned. It was amazing to see the pure power of these animals. It also made me think of the progress these "Beasts of Burden" helped bring to the frontier of America. And although I was only 60 or so miles from the heart of Seattle, this tradition of Teamster Pulls was being kept very much alive, as it should be @ this little fair.
Oh and the winning team are the first and third photos shown here with a 12' pull of 8,000 lbs.
