Dirty Work

Wednesday, March 07, 2007

This is why our church tell the youth to obtain as much education as possible. It is however, good honest work. The world needs someone who can build the bridge as well as design it. The cable pictured here is 4 inches in diameter and weighs about 42 lbs per foot. Thats why my muscles are hard and my back is sore. The wire rope line shown here has a working load limit of 260,000 lbs. It would take at least 6 times that weight to break it but for safeties sake it's rated at a 5 to 1 design factor.

I have done some work on the new Narrows bridge, so remember that when you're about to cross the new span and begin wishing you had taken the ferry.

The Shiney Thing and the Seascape

It's hard to believe but the DW & I have been hitched for a year and a half already. Talk about yer wedded bliss, OK lets not, suffice it to say BLAMMO!!!!!!!!!!! Anyhow we have set about to stocking "McRobertson Arms" with artwork that we both can agree on. This hasn't been easy since Baby Girl has her style preference and all my taste is in my mouth. Like she would go for an oil painting and Im a kung fu poster kinda guy. She enjoys art films and I like Ultra Man, see some of my early posts if you haven't met Ultra Man yet. Don't laugh, he's the only thing keeping your home from being heavily trodden upon by giant monsters. Sorry I went off, its just that I know he's real, and a few of you still think I should check into the nearest loony bin for a few days holiday.

No matter, here are a few items the DW and I actually agreed upon to adorn our domicile. If you want, call us up and we may be able to arrange a private tour. As always smoking and spit tobacco are not allowed at "McRobertson Arms." And thank you for your continued support.

All time Lowe

Saturday, February 24, 2007

I hope I've finally learned my lesson. Once again I ventured into Lowe's hardware, emphasis on the HARD, to buy something. Now usually when I go there,I somehow become invisible, either that or the workers turn invisible. This time however the gal at the customer service counter could actually see me, so I inquired as to the where abouts of the roofing products. With a totally vacant stare she motioned toward the back of the store and sez " I really couldn't tell you, its some where back there diagonally, I think".

Knowing only slightly more than I did before I wasted the Employee of the Months time, I begin wandering around the store like a blind dog in a butcher shop. You know following my nose, hoping to smell wood products. So I finally find the comp shingles Im looking to buy, except every bundle is torn open as if a rabid pack of roofing rats had attacked them. Frustrated I head out of the store, and Im sure I looked funny cuz I was kicking myself in the butt all the way out for thinking that I could get anything done at Lowe's.

Then all was MO' betta cuz I went to HOME DEPOT, the do it yourselfers Valahalla. Everything I needed was right in the front of the store. I was in and out in 10 minutes or so. So my advice to all of you is go to HOME DEPOT cuz they got what you need, and they can see their customers. If it gets intresting I'll post as to the progress of the reroofing of the shed.

Presidents Day

Friday, February 23, 2007

Me and Sister McDonald and a few of our friends rented a house at Ocean Shores for the week end. It was fun to get away, even if the weather was crappy. It really stormed a couple of times and the surf was wicked pounding. I love the power of the ocean, somehow it helps me to think of the majisty and powerful wisdom of my Heavenly Father.

We had a lunch and dinner at an Irish pub called Galway Bay. The food was ever so good, espically the traditional Irish fare. If you're ever in Open Sores I mean Ocean Shores you will really be missing out if you don't take at least one meal at the pub. I did however get a speeding ticket and that sucked but other than that a splendid time was had by one and all. Maybe next time we can take all of you out there in Blogsylvania.

POPPO

Thursday, January 11, 2007

Hey, look you guys its my dear ol' dad. He's not a cop, but he plays one on TV.

MEME all off in your eye.

The DW MEMED me and until she did I had no bleedin' idea what the Helsinki a MEME even was, other than some big gal who was on the Drew Carey Show. She always wore moo moos and had hideous make-up that looked like it was applied by Earl Schieb.

Anyways... I'm supposed to post five things you cyberlings don't know about me. So here it is - the naked and brutal truth. Don't hate me. I'm not special like you.

1. I could subsist on a diet of mustard sandwichs and walnuts. Walnuts by themselves, not on the sandwich. And Frenchs plain ol' yella mustard not that foo foo coarse ground, brown stuff. That's jive and will never do for a classic mustard sammi.

2. My all-time favorite hymn is "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief ". Following closely on the Best Loved Melodies list are "O My Father" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives". All of those songs touch my heart and can set me to bawling. I'm just a big weepy soft hearted boob. That fact, however, is not much of a secret. What can I say? When the Spirit presses down on my soul tears squirt out.

3. For all of my kindness and service for others, I still have a dark and contentious nature that I am trying to overcome. Lord help me.

4. When I was younger I could throw a baseball in excess of 100 MPH on a radar gun, I've thrown a whiffle ball 55 MPH when I was 39 years old. The last time I threw, I was 41 and tore up my shoulder trying to best my oldest sons 75 MPH, which I did at 77 MPH. Since that stunt I can't even throw overhand anymore. That's what happens when you get old and give out.

5. Although I've been married twice before I met the Mrs., I have never loved anyone or anything more deeply than I do her. She is the breath in my lungs. I am commited to her fully and we are doing our best to walk with our Master, the Lord Jesus Christ. Through him and with her forever isn't some gooshy, silly lovers dream that the world throws around. But a very real possibility. I would drag my tongue across flamming glass if it made her happy, or at least put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, (cuz that does make her happy). I LOVE YOU Mrs. Mac!!!!!!!!! And that also is no much of a secret. I love you baby girl.

Change

Monday, January 01, 2007

So here I am fresh into the year 2007 and not a flying car in sight, people are killing one another at a record rate, and the world is full scale selling darkness for light.Well Im not gonna get all heavy on ya, cuz anyone who has ever read some scripture ought not be surprised. Although I would've thought that we would all at the very least, own Junior Birdman Rocket packs.Progress comes slowly at times I suppose.
Anyway what this Blog is about is what we,(when I say we I mean you and me) gonna resolve to do this comming year to be better people, saints ,Family members, kick boxers or dog polishers. Now don't get crazy and try for something impossible like world peace or getting kids to be totally quiet in church cuz that would be like trying to nail Jello to a tree. Im just asking you to list one or two ideas for a worthwhile change you or I can employ in the next year to make our or your world a better place. So come on people what have you got, you're all very clever, creative, and thoughtful, so tell Daddy Shark how thats gonna happen.
As for me Im gonna try to be a better commuter, stress less when the non-driving bozo in the other car can't read my mind. I resolve not to question their ancesstory or IQ.Im gonna sit back relax and breath through my nose. OK the floor, or shall I say the Blog is open. How's it gonna be????

I just love this album. It's hard, it's soft it rocks it rolls, it has a skullaton guy with freaky sharp knives and a modified WWII german army helmet. The band is a pack of Scottish guys who live in Canada. I mean whats not to like??????

Bahai Temple Chicago

I saw this Temple while vacationing this summer. It's a fabulous structure, don't you think? There are 7 Bahai temples in the world, each more beautiful than the next. Check them out on-line, I think you'll agree.

Ronald, What have you done??

Tuesday, November 28, 2006

It seems that due to all the sugar, corn syrup and mega fat content of the meals he pushes, our ol' pal Ronald McDonald (no relation) has run afoul of the law. Word is he was caught by the cops smuggling HappyMeals into a Jenny Craig. He claimed they were a special delivery order for his close personal friend Kristi Ally, who was unavailable for comment due to an overdose of Dexatrim. Said to be driving the getaway car was Sally Struthers, but she was released because there are no handcuffs big enough to fit around her wrists. She is currently under house arrest at Krispi Kreme.

So if you want to stay out of trouble with Jonny Law Don't be like Ronald, spend your food dollars at Arby's cuz thats real food, yah man, dem's good eats.

Thanksgiving

Saturday, November 25, 2006

I'm very much in hopes that you all take the time to count your blessings. God has given us much. If you are reading this you at least have access to a computer, but I'm guessing you have much more. I know that I have more than I could've ever dreamed of. It, of course all comes from GOD, without whos help I am lost. I do need to be more kind and understanding to others and not snivel when things don't go my way. I found a great quote by Neal A. Maxwell (you may have heard of him,if not look him up). It goes like this, "Since we can have no justified complaints against the LORD, who gives us so much, griping simply does not go with Gospel grattitude. Ingrattitude reflects the intellectual dishonesty of those who can enumerate their grievances but cannot count their blessings."

Aging Hipster

Monday, November 20, 2006

In the immortal words of Dr.Evil "There's nothing more embarassing than an Aging Hipster".Well I just turned 50, yes I know you're thinking "He can't be a day over 47",alas and alack tis true,50 it is.I used to be so cool, I had it going on. Now young people don't even see me as a member of the same species. Its OK I guess, Ive got credit, a wonderful wife , that I adore and I know who I am and where I'm going.
I'm not that cat anymore and thats fine with me.

Monsters

Saturday, November 11, 2006

Since I mentioned monsters in my last entry, thought it only proper to show a few monsters. Can you identify the "nice monsters"?

Monsters Beware!!!

Tuesday, November 07, 2006

Don't be a monster, cuz monsters are mean. What with all that city trampling, fire breathing, tail lashing and general trouble making its no wonder they never get invited to tea partys or even tupperware partys, and that stuff is unbreakable.
Some monsters are good, but very few. Aside from Mothra and Gamara,( who was a friend to children everywhere), most monsters just want to stomp on your house or at least lower your property value. Maybe monsters are just misunderstood. But there is one thing all evil monsters understand, and that is that sooner or later Ultraman will be kickin' their monster asses. SOOWATCH!!!!!!!!!!!

My Butt

Hello everyone and welcome to a view of my butt. Its a nice butt(or so I've been told) and has served me well, yes low all these years Not much has changed about it. Oh sure its gotten bigger, sprouted some hair and had some pimples on it ,but its my butt and I love it. Except when I have to go to the doctor, butt we won't go in to that. Pun sorta intended.Forgive me. My butt is still defective, it has a crack in it, butt I've learned to live with it.
Butts have been misunderstood or mislabeled for years. Like cigerette butt, or being the butt of a joke, or "He was a real Buttinski". There is also a butt weld and a butt joint (never smoke one of these).

Anyway its quite late. Thanx for reading my butt blog, butt I've gotta take my butt to bed. G'nite all.

KENISHOUS

You pushed through the crowd, the most striking human in the room
To get a sticker that resists the rain,I was sure I'd known you before.

The hands of time and reflex brought it back, someone I loved was one who loved you more
Over time our paths crossed more often, I gave you food as you stood in the door.

I am my brothers keeper & damn sure you're my brother
I love your spirit and who you are, you help in ways that don't even know of
I'll always want to know where you are.

Loud confessions and reverent reflections, you touch all bases and call out to your maker
A testimony hidden inside a curse, days pass I learn the depths of your well

The deepest well my brother & damn sure you're my brother
I love your spirit and who you are, you help in ways that you are not aware of
I'll always want to know where you are.

Like Adam & Eve

Tuesday, September 26, 2006

Raw materials, precious extractions in Death's crucible.Vicious descriptives and temporal references terrorize my sleep.Plodding along like I had more time. Like Adam & Eve expulsion is eminent. Wishing on stars that are as far away as the likelihood that those wishes will be granted. Are dogs barking or is someone at the door? Are you really dieing or just faking on the floor?

The Best Gift

Friday, August 25, 2006

Bending, bleeding in the heart of someones mother, I felt the deep proceedings in the scars of another. I really tried to do your daughter good enough, but the string only runs so far, selling your soul and all. Trying to blame but it just ain't workin' out. Devalued confidence, I whisper when I shout. Turmoil turned into scarecrows burried alive. But this tried and truest barrel only holds so much rain. A sallow countenance for the world to witness here. Drops to the floor, flooding, the only worthy tear. After hours begging, my knees drip rancid blood, awakening reminders of a self I thought was gone. Well, well, well is there a winner in this game? Or does it really matter when some things never change.
I saw you when I least wanted to. So much the worse for all the wear & tear. From protecter and mentor to live-in tormentor. Of course you had to go,Maslow's damn pyramid. Reduced to lowest terms by reciprocal demands.
Every man still wants to know where he stands. Now I know where I stand, on my own hind legs. The best gift you ever gave me was when you left me.

Set Me Free

With scapel like precision and the patience of a vulture, heads rolled, hearts were broken by well chosen words.
Thieves in the night,Banshees bay at searchlights. Unable to come in from the cold, the tie goes to the gunner. The unbearable din of female laughter crashes through my own personal gaurdrail. Sliding down the bannister into a firestorm. Cradled in the unclean hands of an indentured master. I sit in a circular pit fashioned of wrought iron and wanton flesh. Scattering stress fractured bones of friendless pets.Screaming at the night to let me be. Begging with the dark to set me free.

The Spectre

A blessing on your eyes, a stillness from the pain
All will be forgiven with the comming of the rain
The shallow pool of yesterday, soon it will be full
The Spectre in the corner is pearched upon a stool

The tale told once, one quiet night so very long ago
The truth of kings, lost not through time, lay covered up with snow
A cry for help, a need unmet has called Him to this place
Still huddled in the corner, the Spectre with no face

He was sent to hold you captive,or perhaps to gaurd your life
In one hand there's an olive branch, the other holds a knife
Once summoned by the ancients, through motives that were clear
Fade more obscure, with less import, with every passing year

As tears form in his reddened eyes, the Witness in your room
A cross between salvation and all impending doom
And though you should not fear Him, it just might be the case
For I am that silent image, the Spectre with no face

New & Different

Toiling away,Everyday, Silence it slices with nothing to say.
Crammed into space, most face to face. Take nothing with you when leaving this place.

Passive obsessive, don't say nothing.
New and different, something unknown.

Held to my word by something you heard, Heart beating fast like the wings of a bird.
Shadows that glow, swing to and fro, torn and tormented by all that you know.

Passive obsessive, don't say nothing.
New and different, something unknown.

Dragged from the crowed for thinking aloud, finding unwinding is slow in this shroud.
Blisters arise, burned by your eyes, bested by others who rule with their lies.

Passive obsessive, don't say nothing
New and different, something unknown.

Evil Seesaw

Scattered shabby memories cloud the inner eye.
A breathless hope against all time, crawl, crawl, fall.

Borrowed time and intrest due, settle up or get out
Disapproval bends the brow. What does the pool reflect?

The bottom seems to drop when you walk by, far too serious for a dreamer such as I.
Thrill of mortal fear rings in your ear, days of fallen plans cause you to erode.

Im on an Evil Seesaw in the playground that is my life
Dictate my mood, an interlude, up,down, up.

Finding no escape the Wheel of Fate spins ever on.
Thirsting for an answer between madness and the dawn.

Lament

Thursday, August 24, 2006

You raise your glass and lower your brow, and tell me that I don't know how
to gain all that I aspire to.

You raise your glass and make a toast, to all the things that you hate most
and come to in the morning with the demons.

With unpaid dues and lame reviews you school me on the latest news
and point out all the social implications.

I see your need and feel your greed groping about the room
for a semi-friendly ear that you can bend on.

If I recall your early life you strived to be a rich mans wife,
a life so far and free from strife, but too bad.

He left a nasty scar on you, you leave a lasting scar on me
so far from the reality we'd dreamt of.

Who sent you anyway

Wednesday, August 23, 2006

I tear the picture from the wall, and throw it halfway down the hall
And kick and scream and curse at God, Im not myself, I feel quite odd
On a tempest bed I hear your voice, and wish back then I had a choice
But in stepped fate whose fickle hand has scattered hopes and dreams across the land

These madmen who approach me
Who has sent them, they seem to know me
They read my mind like an open book
and steal my secrets with just one look

And then there came another day,I don't know when I lost my way
A man was preaching Anti-Christ, he tried to sway me with all his might
As he slithered back from whence he came I was glad he never spoke his name
With his crown of thorns and can of beer, I wondered who had sent him here

NO RESOLVE

Writing in a dead mans diary, with a celtic knot in my throat. Twice death, the pain of the lonliest souls.
The barred windows forbid unwelcome entrance into the shrine, Temple of the Left Behind.
Too weak to make the journey, the sojourn to Nirvana. The catatonic drift, my leaden arms won't move. I hear but cannot answer to your call.
Yet I try, I will, if only in my mind.
I wrestle in a conflict that has no resolve, no resolve.`

Silver Tongues

Silver tongues, soft words and an eye on the door. Uncoordinated efforts fall short of the mark. I hear good sounds, it all sounds too good to be true, is it?

There is much to be done given the time frame. A pale remnant of what it once was. Burdended by the words they used to bring this madness. None feel sorry for them that turned the cards. A deep dark death will be their lot.

They will be the lucky ones......

Them that die.

Tuesday, July 11, 2006

Die a thousand deaths, but don't go to hell with those scars.

Evil cannot be conquered in this world. It must be resisted from within.

Not my friends

Sunday, July 09, 2006

Devils and Deities they dance upon my grave
Stamping down the soil of my silent sleep
They clammer for posistion to tread their heavy steps
Their fasting summons the spirit workers
A shaman distorts the choice I've made
With disdain and an indifferent faceless gaze

Rehearse the Art of War, for Arts sake alone
A brazen reminder of why I injure myself delibrately
They are not my friends, but they claim to be my allies.
